Academic Consultation

Twenty focused minutes on the academic question in front of you.

Academic Consultation is Kerbona's free, short-form consultation for students from middle & secondary school (Grades 8-12) through undergraduate study. It is for one specific question you are working on now — a topic, an assignment, a reading, a research task, a study habit — and it takes place in a fixed 20-minute online window. Online booking is not yet available.

Who it is for

Grades 8-12 to undergraduate, one question at a time.

Bring the question as it stands. You do not need to have solved part of it first.

  • Middle & secondary school (Grades 8-12)

A topic that will not click, a difficult unit or assignment, how to read and use sources, preparing a competition entry, or study habits that hold up under pressure.

  • Undergraduate

An essay or lab report you are stuck on, how to approach a research task, reading a paper critically, or choosing between methods for a course project.

Scope

What twenty minutes can and cannot do.

Covers

  • Understanding a concept, an assignment, or a reading you are working on.
  • Deciding how to start, structure, or revise a piece of academic work.
  • Working out what to study next, and how.
  • Research skills at your stage: asking a question, finding evidence, interpreting results, writing it up.

Does not cover

  • Completing, editing, or marking your work for you.
  • Weighing long-term directions, programs, or research paths — that is Plan Your Path.
  • The move from study into work — that is Professional Consultation.
  • Promising a grade, a result, or a decision at any school or program.

The conversation happens inside a booked window, through channels Kerbona manages. Nothing on this page is personal advice, and nothing here is collected about you.

The free windows

Fixed windows, opened each month.

Length
20 minutes
Cost
Free — there is no payment step
Format
Online; the meeting link is provided once a booking is confirmed
Timing
A fixed date and start time, set when Kerbona opens the window
Each month
3 to 5 windows, as an operating target

Once online booking opens, Kerbona aims to open 3 to 5 free windows each month. That is an operating target, not a fixed quota or a promise: the actual dates, times, and number of windows in any month are set when Kerbona releases them, and no window is promised to be open at any given moment.

When a window is released, or a booked window is freed, it is offered first to people on the waitlist, in order. Only when nobody is waiting can an open window be taken directly.

Waiting

A place in line is not a booking.

  • One list, kept across months. Joining it holds your place in line; it does not hold a window.
  • When your turn comes, you are invited to a specific date and time. The invitation shows its own deadline — at most 24 hours from when it is sent, and never later than the window's start. Confirm before the deadline and the window is yours.
  • If the deadline passes, the invitation moves to the next person and your place ends. You can rejoin at the back of the line whenever you like; Kerbona does not requeue anyone automatically or hold their old place.
  • Each account holds one active free booking or waitlist place at a time. There is no limit on how many free consultations you may have over time.
  • If Kerbona has to withdraw a window, anyone booked or invited into it returns to the waitlist in their original order, not at the back.
  • Nobody's name, position, or request is shown on this website, and this page never shows an individual's place in line or the list itself.

How it will work

Online booking is not yet open.

  1. An open window, or a place on the waitlist

When a window is open and nobody is waiting, you can take it directly. Otherwise, your request goes onto the waitlist.

  2. Confirm an invitation before its deadline

The invitation names the date, the time, and the deadline. Confirming turns it into a booking.

  3. Join the meeting

You receive the meeting link for a confirmed booking. If you cannot attend, cancel it so the window can go to the next person.

Online booking is not yet available. For inquiries, email info@kerbona.org. An email is an inquiry only: it is not a booking, a registration, or a place on the waitlist.

Common questions

Before you write.

Is online booking open?

Not yet. For inquiries, email info@kerbona.org. An email is an inquiry only: it is not a booking, a registration, or a place on the waitlist.

Will joining the waitlist reserve a window?

No. It will hold a place in line. A window is reserved only once an invitation for a specific date and time is confirmed, or an open window is taken directly when nobody is waiting.

What happens if I miss the confirmation deadline?

The invitation passes to the next person and your waitlist place ends. You can rejoin at the back of the line at any time.

How many free consultations can one account have?

One active booking or waitlist place per account at a time, and no limit over time.

Will I see my place in line?

No. You will not see a number for your own position — only the total number of people waiting, and whether your own request is waiting, invited, or booked.

What if I need more than 20 minutes?

Academic Consultation is a single short window. For direction-setting conversations and Mentor Support, see Plan Your Path. For the step from higher education into work, see Professional Consultation.
